Power Generation Facility Environmental Permitting

Since our inception in 1968, ENSR has been involved in the permitting of power generation facilities. During this time, the focus of the electric utility industry has shifted from the construction of large, coal-fired or nuclear, base-load generating stations to smaller, more flexible generation units fueled by natural gas.

ENSR has helped clients in the siting and permitting of power facilities under National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), state "mini-NEPA" enacts, and public service commission regulations that require environmental assessments and environmental impact statements for co-generation and independent merchant power producer facilities.

Over the past 15 years, ENSR has prepared more than 300 such assessments for combined-cycle and fluidized-bed cogeneration facilities, resource recovery facilities, electric utility generating stations, and hazardous waste incinerators. With expertise in air quality and toxics, water/wetlands engineering and sciences, health risk assessments and management, solid/hazardous waste management engineering, permitting, and remediation, ENSR consultants are uniquely qualified to assist with permitting power generation facilities.
