Pipelines, Transmission Lines & Fiber Optic Systems Projects
Multi-State Permits for Pipeline Expansion - ENSR has been working with a pipeline company for the past four years on the expansion and extension of their natural gas pipeline system that begins in central Montana and terminates in eastern Illinois. ENSR has prepared the environmental reports for two FERC applications and all the federal, state, and local environmental permit applications for the project. The project includes 147 miles of looping, 243 miles of new construction, and installation of 403,500 horsepower of new compression. Pipe size includes 30- and 36-inch, and compressor stations range from 6,500 to 38,000 horsepower. In addition to the FERC reports, field data collection and the preparation of permit applications was required for wetlands, river crossings, endangered species, cultural resources, air quality, and storm water. Coordination with agencies in six states was required. Now that the project is being constructed, ENSR is responsible for environmental inspection on five construction spreads.
